KILL THE STORY!

In some spiritual teachings they use the phrase the “old man” to represent your old habitual negative patterns.

Neville Goddard uses it.

Blame

Doubt

Anger and frustration

Powerlessness

…. And so on are all aspects of the old man.

They also talk about dying everyday in order to be free of the old man.

They talk about dying to the old man so as to not be trapped in your reactions every day driven by your old negative habits.

For some people this sounds very difficult.

How do I kill the old man?

Well what is the “old man” made up of?

A story. It’s only a story.

My parents did this

My parents did that

I’m not worthy

This happened to me

That happened to me

I am not well

… And on and on

All stories.

How do you kill the old man?

Kill the story

How do you kill the story?

The same way you kill anything.

Stop feeding it.

A plant dies when you stop feeding it

A relationship dies when you stop feeding it

The old man dies when you stop feeding it

How do you stop feeding it?

Stop talking about it

Stop thinking about it

Stop feeling it

Stop rationalizing it

Stop feeding it in all the ways you currently feed it.

Telling your friends

Blabbing it on social media

Stop feeding it.

The more you feed it the more it stays around and grows.

It’s the story you are feeding.

Your body and it’s current condition is the story you keep telling about it.

Your life is the story you keep telling about it.

Your game (whatever sport you play) is the story you keep telling about it.

The greater percentage of stories are garbage and driven by habit believed to be true.

These Stories are easy to rationalize aren’t they?

After all you have the past to prove it don’t you? (‘see I told you they did that to me” or (I told you I keep missing 3-ft putts😉).

All you have done is proven that you have repeated the STORY over and over again and nothing else.

It is the story that is playing out.

That story says nothing about what’s possible.

It only verifies what was done before in the past.

Big deal!

Stop trying to kill the old man… That sounds really hard LOL

Kill the story instead.

Tell a better story instead
